art

Painting has always been my way of slowing down and paying attention.

Every painting begins with quiet observation, a changing landscape, the colours of a garden through the seasons, the texture of weathered stone, or the way light transforms an ordinary room. These moments become the starting point for work that is less about recording a place and more about capturing its atmosphere.

Working primarily in oil, I build each painting slowly through layers of colour, texture and light, allowing each piece to develop at its own pace. I am drawn to timeless subjects that invite reflection and bring a sense of calm into the spaces they inhabit.

My paintings are created to live in homes where they become part of everyday life, where morning light changes their colours, where conversations unfold around them, and where they quietly accompany the rhythm of the seasons.

Each collection reflects my ongoing exploration of Art, Home and Garden, a belief that beauty is not separate from the way we live but woven into the places we create, the landscapes that inspire us, and the objects we choose to surround ourselves with.

I hope these paintings bring a lasting sense of warmth, stillness and connection to your home.

Series - Close up figures

Intimate, cropped studies of living forms focus on texture, light, and surface to evoke presence instead of telling a story. Close-up compositions reveal tactile details and quiet moods, inviting slow attention and mindful observation.

Held Horizon 1

2025-2026

Oil painting on stretched canvas 180 × 120cm

Colours used: Raw amber, Buff Titanium, French Ultra Marine, Ochre, White Titamium

This abstract work explores stillness, balance, and spatial quiet through layered texture and restrained contrast. Soft mineral tones and suspended dark forms create a contemplative atmosphere reminiscent of distant reflections, weathered surfaces, and fading landscapes.

Built through multiple layers and subtle surface variation, the painting invites slow looking and emotional interpretation rather than fixed narrative.

Ideal for calm interiors and architectural spaces, the piece is designed to bring visual rest and grounded presence into a room.

Locked down

2020

Oil painting on stretched canvas 180 x 120cm

Locked down is a painting inspired from a photo.  It represents a woman standing behind a large glass window, her elbow resting on the window frame.  Although the woman’s glance faces outwards, she appears to be lost in her thoughts, almost daydreaming.  She may be confined indoors and wishes to be outside, or maybe is simply bored.

The window reflects a sea landscape.  The shore and sea seem to be far out.  It appears to be grey and cold outside, which contrasts with the warmth and darkness of the inside.

Only 4 colours were used for the painting: Buff titanium, yellow ochre, raw amber and blue grey, which combines cold and warm colours.

It took 5 months to do the painting.
