With you, everything has to be big.

In a distant past, one day, a past acquaintance of mine told me, in a not-so-friendly manner, with you, everything has to be big.

Yes, for me, in some aspects and particularly in interior design, the bigger is better, and less is more.

For those with a taste for the grand, nothing makes a statement quite like large, bold pieces of furniture and décor. Why settle for small, when you can have something that truly commands attention? For many, the idea that "bigger is better" isn’t just a preference, it’s a lifestyle.

Deep down this statement, there is a belief in quality over quantity. Large, carefully selected pieces can have an impact that far exceeds a room filled with countless smaller items. Whether it's a statement sofa that takes up the entire living room, a large armoire that takes most of the room and reaches the ceiling or a towering sculpture that demands attention from every angle, these pieces don't just fill a space—they define it.

The concept is simple: A few pieces—but of the highest quality—are all that’s needed. The sheer scale and presence of one or two signature items can transform a space from ordinary to extraordinary. In contrast, thousands of smaller trinkets, while charming in their own way, often fail to achieve the same level of emotional or visual impact.

For many who embrace this approach, size is not just about proportion—it’s about making a statement. It’s about creating a home that feels vast and grandiose, even when the square footage is modest. A single oversized armchair in the corner of a room, paired with a minimalist, large-scale painting on the wall, can make the entire space feel expansive. It proves that size has no proportion and no rule—it’s not about filling a room with as many items as possible, but about curating a few key elements that command attention and inspire awe.

It can also be about heirloom pieces that have sentimental value to you. Seeing it daily reminds you of who you are and where you come from, cherishing memories of the past and creating future ones.

This mindset is particularly powerful in small homes, where making a big impact can feel challenging. Many are drawn to the idea that a small space can feel expansive when strategically placing a few monumental pieces. The juxtaposition of a towering bookshelf, a bold rug, or a striking light fixture against the simplicity of a smaller room creates a sense of openness and depth that smaller décor simply can’t replicate.

But it’s not just about physical space—it is about emotional space too. Big furniture and bold ornaments bring a certain gravitas to a home. They invite you to engage with them, to experience their form and function on a grand scale. These pieces speak to an appreciation for craftsmanship, design, and the idea that even the simplest of spaces can have a monumental presence when the right elements are in place.

At the end of the day, bigger is better for those who believe in the power of quality over quantity. Whether it’s a luxurious sectional, a striking marble table, or an oversized statement light fixture, these items don’t just fill the space—they define it. And with only a few carefully chosen pieces, a home can feel grand, impressive, and larger than life.

So, if you want to make an impact, remember—sometimes, it is the big things that leave the greatest impression. If everything has to be big, so be it!
