Locked down
Locked down
Locked down is a painting inspired by a photo. It represents a woman standing behind a large glass window, her elbow resting on the window frame. Although the woman’s glance faces outwards, she appears to be lost in her thoughts, almost daydreaming. She may be confined indoors and wishes to be outside, or she may simply be bored.
The window reflects a seascape. The shore and sea seem to be far away. It appears to be grey and cold outside, which contrasts with the warmth and darkness of the inside.
Only 4 colours were used for the painting: Buff titanium, yellow ochre, raw amber, and blue grey, which combines cold and warm colours.
It took 5 months to do the painting.
